Student Information

You can get a head start on your career by starting a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) while you are still at secondary school.  A SBAT combines paid employment, off the job vocational studies and your senior secondary school program.

SBATs allow you to earn a wage while completing your secondary studies and may allow you to gain credit towards a vocational qualification and your senior school certificate.

You can do a SBAT in a traditional trade or other occupation at the Certificate II, III or IV level.  They are available in over 500 occupations – you just need to decide on what career path best suits you.  Your school career advisor can help you with this investigation.

SBATs generally take two years to complete by undertaking a minimum number of hours per week of combined work placement and training and you must be 15 years old to take one up.

Our Opportunities link lists all the current vacancies that GRVEC is aware of and provides some basic details on the vacancy and who to contact for further information.  This changes on a regular basis, so please keep checking back!
